Double Standards at Work Everywhere – Timothy J Evans Receives Slap on the Wrist for DUI Arrests

   Uncategorized

I am writting in response to Wendy Morgan’s Sept. 28  letter, “Double standards evident in Y-S.” This is a very good argument for the next DUI arrest. If a local judge can get off with a slap on the hand,  why can’t the average citzen get the same treatment? I personally think the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office, or better yet, the state Attorney General’s Office, should take a good hard look over cases that Judge Evans has ruled on for the past several years. Who’s to say he wasn’t under the influence while sitting on the bench, hearing the various cases before him?

And what about the new law regarding cell phone use while driving? Why is it so important that you have to put my life, along with others, at risk while you talk on your cell phone? I’m not just talking about the average citizens either. I’m talking about our postal workers, our local police officers, our ambulance personnel, etc. How can the local police write tickets for the exact same law that they themselves are breaking? It’s crazy how the law works for some and others get the shaft.
